Here to support, educate and ...

January 2009

TheArtAssemblyAdvocates

Without doubt, we can write a thorough editorial on world news and the significant changes this lovely blue globe have faced.
With the painful incidences that many have experienced we can clamor for change, for world peace and remind you all that borders are only if we allow them to be.
With climate change, affecting the flora and fauna –
pola bears and bumble bees declination and the melting of ice-bergs.
We hope that despite the distractions that we entertain –as citizens of the globe…you keep your eyes on the news…so as not to become indifferent to the worlds and its woes.

RETROSPECTIVE OF 2008

Speaking of distractions, one of the pastimes for us here is the enjoyment of art; in all its forms.

The incentive for Art Assembly Advocates is as follows:

We are a panel of art supporters who in awareness of a GM inability to highlight
all the fine art that is submitted here on dA.
Our goal is to bring attention to deserving yet un-noticed artist –whose work merits recognition.
We, in no way claim to be superior in judgment then any other participant in this community.
Our only qualifications are the love of art and the desire to support those whose work shouts for applause.

Our agenda—while still in the works should proceed as follows:
Each month a member of the panel will highlight a particular genre that has had an impact on them. Along with this member’ exposé they will invite follow members of the panel to interchange thoughts ---calling to mind not only the image---but impressions that are invoked.

This article is set to be presented via a news article once a month.
However---as the assembly proceeds in development—we hope to be more active during the month.

While the word advocate might call to mind negative connotations, please bare in mind that we adhere to the definition 2: one that defends or maintains a cause or proposal 3: one that supports or promotes the interests of another.

*
The selected panel at hand leans towards a passion in various mediums of art.
We hope that this diversity will allow us to support the full spectrum of artist here on dA.
*
We endeavor to support---educate---and

*
At present the panel stands as follows:

We hope to invite other members periodically to participate in this exchange.

We present to you a panel discussion of the art that has left an impression upon us this past year.

A tour of each panel member’s folder and journal collection host news worthy art to consider.
However, do to necessity we are limited in what we can present.
We hope that all of you out there are assured you have our attentiveness to your work and progression.

:pointr: To begin with: who has left a lasting impression on you for this past year?

It will be very difficult for me to choose just one Deviant. I had great times by following some young artists around conceptual and experimental categories.
Most of the time, their art makes a difference, offer new ways of creating and always new anticipated originality and creativity. I am sorry again and again, despite having campaigned more then I should, that an « expérimental category » does not exist on DA.

back to the question ;-)
The gallery which moved me and which I looked with much pleasure and emotion is that of~sophonisba There is much poetry in the ‘mise en sense’. While his work night disturbs and hustles, it does not yield to voyeurism and I find there are always very beautiful stories being told.

lasting impression... these 2 small words describe so well this work... a lasting impression... some scarce photographs have a special power, you can still see them even if you close your eyes, and they follow you during several days or more... and the effect is still intact when you look at it again... it would be vain to try to explain that impression I think... of course it needs to be a good photo, with a good technique, but it's not enough, it also have to call deep personal emotions... I think everybody can take a strong photo, but several ones is much more difficult and shows the depth of the artist....

This artist touches me so much in the way he photographs as well as the subject he chooses.
This is "pure" photography, just B&W, and use of aperture and shutter speed and film characteristics (push process, grain, infrared...) for making what he wants. His work is so soft, simple and still very creative.
He's very close from elements and his pictures names are often just about that: ocean, rain, mist... and talks so well about those elements around us across his pictures.

I have a soft spot for art that portrays nature in a dark and abstract/surreal manner, without losing the splendor that we so often see from a more straight up photography with only minor edits. Shaun knows how to show the dark side of nature's scenery, while still showing the light and the warmth of it.

I cannot fathom why this artist does not have a larger audience.
The perspective taken from an aerial POV provides balanced abstractions.
Yet…looking further into these paintings—we are afforded yet a deeper understand of the drama behind what is not so obvious.

:pointr: Who have you discovered that has just blown you away?

=JakezDaniel
His pictures all have a special touch. It's very hard to define what and why: Analog photography, freedom, imagination, provocation? He's one of those who made me want to try back analog photography with old medium size camera.

There is a weird sense of "I don't care how you do it, this is how I'm doing it" style with Balzzy... but with no attitude whatsoever.

She is the MacGyver of cameras, she has a solution and "this should fix it"-idea for every possible scenario you can think of. And this "Mad Professor" mentality shines through in all of her images.

When an artist shows diversity--some think there's no 'style'.
I thoroughly disagree with that. To me...when an artist can show a wide range of ability--it shows that genuine creative nerve that does not allow for a singular vision. This artist proves that.
A look through her gallery presents her genius with wall worthy art.
